BACKGROUND:
Therapeutic, hands-on massage has been used on humans and animals since the earliest times. It's benefits have been documented by the ancient Egyptians, Phoenicians, Greeks and Romans, even as they are now. Entire sections of the earliest medical and veterinary medical books detailed the need for massage; it's techniques, benefits and results. Massage has been proven to work.

Eons later "miracle drugs" developed by the new pharmaceutical industry replaced natural therapies, such as massage. Excessive costs and prohibitive side effects of drugs began to cause people to return to natural treatments. The holistic health movement began to accomodate companion animals and race and show horses. The return to the natural way of health and healing through massage has made this beneficial, cost effective therapy come full circle because it has withstood the test of time. Massage is old, yet new again.

"The accumulating data of science continues to support the bonding and therapeutic superiority of hands-on animal/human massage interaction over those modalities which incorporate the use of anxiety-generating, alien mechanical devices."
